I was hoping there was someone out there in the Brooklyn, NY area who could give me some suggesions on birthing options. Right now, I'm 8 weeks pregnant with my 2nd pg, and I'm considering changing practitioners. I actually really like the OB practice that I am with, however, they only deliver at NYU Med Center in Manhattan, and I REALLY disliked my experience in the hospital. I do NOT want to go back there. I would be very open to either a free-standing or hospital-based birthing center, and would be interested in working with a mid-wife on this birth.

A little back ground on me: I'm 37, but will not be doing the triple-screen or amnio, so it is important my practioner respect this. I had GD with my first pg, so there is a possibility I will have it with this pg. It is important that my practitioner is not a proponent of early induction for mom's with GD. (many OBs want to induce GD moms at 38-39 weeks; my current OB was comfortable with me going a little over 40; from what I hear, mid-wives are even more flexible). Finally, I hemmoraged quite badly after my first birth so it is important that medical assistance not be too far away in case it is needed.

I don't even know where to start, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
