I am trying to hard not to be mad L wanted to come watch dd skate. I changed our plans and drove to a rink out of our way to make it easier for L. Then she messed up the time, got there an hour early and left.

So if this plays out like past mishaps, L will feel like crap and avoid us for a year. I don't want that for my daughter's sake, but I am sooooo mad. I feel like I did so much work to set this up, now I shouldn't have to pick up the pieces. And of course, there is bad behaviors from the disappointment. I am not doing so well at being patient

That must be frustrating! And, sounds like you'r definitely going above and beyond to help your daughter have a relationship with her birthmom. Wish it were a little easier for you though!

Well, not sure if you were able to work through this issue already. But, from talking with other parents in your shoes during my time at Focus on the Family, I've come across a couple articles that might help you navigate these type of situations. One is on birth-family relationships and the other is on explaining parental disinterest. Not sure if they'll help or not, but just thought I'd mention them!

Hope things improve for with your daughter's birth mom-but your daughter's so lucky to have a mom like you! Hang in there!
