I usually don't pick up calls from numbers I don't recognize on my cell phone but made an exception - it was an automated call from Enfamil!!! Not only did they send me unsolicited full size cans of formula ( which I stuck with emergency food supply) but they are calling my<br>
cell phone? Wow ridiculous. - the best part is the auomayed voice was asking if she could go on and I loudly said "no!" and she said I'm sorry dis you say yes? Who ia the culprit here- target baby registry ???

Ohhhh but I LOVE the formula companies! Seriously, I sign up for all their samples then pass them on to mothers who genuinely NEED the formula. I do it to exploit the big companies <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> I have quite the stash right now that my midwife is going to pass on to a family who has *no* money but can't breastfeed. good! i'm glad you do that! just cranky that they got my cellphone number-and feeling like a mama struggling with breastfeeding/not informed or supported could be easily swayed by this marketing. nothing against folks who can't breastfeed or choose formula-just feeling like it's very manipulative-this whole history targeting lower-income women especially with "scientific" info about how good formula is

I got a call too on my cell phone only it went to voicemail. Said something about how amazing mothers are and they are celebrating mothers day and to call them back at such and such a number. I have not gotten samples thankfully but wow....

It's either Target or Babies R Us. Those are the only places with my address, and I don't give my phone number. I also received the cans of formula, and keep meaning to drop them off at the food pantry in town.<br><br>
When I was looking over the ingredient lists on the soy formula, it's 43% corn syrup solids, and 10% sugar. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/scared.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="scared"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/shake.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="shake"><br><br>
On the subject of Enfamil...I got their new freebie "breastfeeding" bag at the hospital...it's even more lame now. It's a tote bag made of the same material as most reusable shopping bags without pockets or anything, and it had a single ice pack, can of formula, and coupons for formula. The one I received two years ago at least made an attempt at seeming breastfeeding friendly...it was a halfway decent diaper bag with insulated pockets, a bunch of ice packs, and a whole pamphlet on how to pump and store breastmilk at home and on the go, and the coupons were for all sorts of baby related needs, not just formula. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">

I'm thankful I haven't gotten any formula samples yet. I got a bunch with DD and gave them to our local Pregnancy Care Center, which helps low-income Moms. This time around, I refuse to give my phone # and address to Motherhood or BRU so I wouldn't get that stuff in the mail. I can't believe they've stooped to automated phone calls... how invasive.
