My midwife is stumped, so I was wondering if anyone else has experienced something like this. A bit of history so far... I had cramping from about week 5 - 8. When I found out the Red Raspberry tea I was drinking might be the culprit, I stopped. Apparently some people reactly badly to it - guess I was one of them.

Anyway, the bad cramping I was getting during the day stopped. Now, about 2-3 times a week I am getting one really bad cramp in the middle of the night. It is a low, menstual type cramp that lasts about 15 minutes. The first few times it happened right after I went pee, so I was wondering if it was related to my bladder being too full/empty or something.

Anyone else have a similar experience? It is kind of freaking me out, not to mention really putting a strain on my sleeping as mind starts racing when it happens.

Thanks for any input,

Do you think you're getting enough water? I had a few cramps early on and when I asked my NP about it, she seemed to feel like I might not be getting enough water. She said that the uterus hates to be dry and tends to contract when it is, or something. Much as it sucks to get up and pee all night, you might try drinking more water.

I do have very light cramps occasionally after I pee or something and I figure that it's everything sort of settling back down.

I do try to drink lots of water during the day. Maybe I need to drink more? I did decide to drink all the water I would need before I went to bed last night. Because otherwise I keep drinking everytime I wake up and it is just a vicious cycle of peeing and drinking all night long. I have been so tired the past week because I am not getting any sleep.

I also don't understand how I can be peeing 4-5 times a night already. Good grief. I knew the last few months of pregnancy I wouldn't be sleeping much, but I didn't realize it would start so soon. Work sucks when I am this tired. Sorry for being so whiny.

Well, I guess if you're not used to drinking that much your body can take a while to get used to it. But it seems like I was peeing more at that stage, and now at 16wks, it's eased up a little.

All I know is that my NP asked how much I was drinking, I proudly proclaimed that it was 100 oz a day, and she told me that I needed more. Bummer.
