Y'know what helped me is shea nut butter. Even though it's very rich and thick, it never made my oily skin oilier. I started using it as my night moisturizer and in the morning I had loosened-up blackheads that came out easily with only gentle encouragement from a wet washcloth.

Try and see if it works for you. I get mine from Terressentials. www.terressentials.com

So far, the only thing I've found that works for me is making sure I wash my face both morning and night and doing regular drawing facial masks with charcoal or clay.

I have large pores and blackheads in my t-zone. I've found that the best scrub to get rid of dead-poreblocking-skin is a handful of baking soda mixed with water. I do that a couple times a week.

After that, I cleanse my face with olive-casteel based liquid soap and rinse. I use a spray bottle with Rosewater (I googled for it and found a mfg. of real rosewater, not the imposter-type: water mixed with EO). Chamomile Hydrosol is good for soothing skin, Lavender Hydrosol is great for anti-bacterial or you can use Witch Hazel for skin tightening (if you can stand the smell).

I also use Organic, Cold Pressed Olive Oil which seems to make my oily t-zone less oily throughout the day. The opposite of what you might expect.
http://members.aol.com/strejel/index3.html and
http://www.wiredberries.com/beauty/2...pose_remed.asp

I have also found that Lavender EO applied directly to breakouts works even better (usually overnight) than Tea Tree.

There was a thread on this a while back and someone recommended jojoba oil, straight up, on your skin. I guess it mimics your own skin's oils more than any other oil, and moisturizes while slowing up oil production. Anyway, I find it really works! It felt really weird at first to slather OIL on my face after a decade or two of being afraid of moisturizer, but I really saw results that honey and baking soda didn't do. If you google it, you'll come up with a lot of info on it. I just use it at night, cuz it takes a while to soak in.

There is a site called makeupalley.com which is very oriented to makeup. They have reviews of just about everything under the sun as well as a discuassion board dedicated to skin care. While a fair amount is information on chemical type cleansers and so forth there is a wealth of information on natural skin care. Worth checking into and asking there. I know cleansing oils come up a lot and I have read recs for products available at natural food stores for example. I used to have issues with blackheads but through the site I found information on products that helped me a lot. But a good exfoliating scrub is key as is washing & moisturizing at night. Plus a good mask 2-3xs per week. But anyway I thought the site might help give you some more ideas.

It's really not much work, I promise. For me, the key is washing at night and in the morning. When you brush your teeth, do a quick face wash and rinse with a wash cloth - it's mildly exfoliating which will help.

A couple times a week, wash with ground oats - I grind them finely so they don't irritate - and do a mask. That's it

I don't use jojoba - but I've tried other oils and it makes the blackheads on my nose so much worse. I use a commercial face cream with hydroxy acids - it exfoliates and help keep pores clean. I wish I could find a more natural face cream but, I find I really need the alpha/beta hydroxy acids to exfoliate and keep my pores clean and 'natural' ones don't seem to have them.

I think jojoba is unusual in its properites to reduce sebum production. I would try it if you haven't. MIght not work for everyone of course...

I also find it simple. I just keep a honey bottle in my bathroom, a parmesan cheese shaker from Jewel filled with baking soda, and my much-loved container of jojoba oil.

I am still struggling with my skin. The only thing that worked well for me was regular facials - I used to get 2 a month in the 6 months before my wedding and my skin looked fabulous. Nothing else works properly.

The other things I try and do are change my pillowcases and face towels often, and not touch my face with my hands during the day.

I am upset that I am almost 30 and still covered in blackheads and the odd massive pimple - I was told it would stop when I was 20!

I see a dermatologist for adult acne and he said that women tend to get it until 43!!!! He said then there seems to be a huge drop off but that I shouldn't be surprised if I continue to get acne well into my late 30s and early 40s :

Me too, (34 here) but I switched to honey and baking soda and got a lot better. Then I tried the jojoba and got even better. And I learned about it all at MDC. : :

You can get a super nice all natural facial scrub from www.hugadubdub.com (she is another mdc mama) that is made with organic oats, lavender and other nice things.

I wash my face with honey and use this scrub a couple of times a week and use shea butter to moisturize. Blackheads are no longer the problem teyy once were!
