Thankfully I was successful with my HBAC and we had our 2nd DD at home! I am overjoyed. The one thing that's foreign territory for me is my loss of bladder control! It's a little freaky to be walking and leak a little almost every step... especially downhill! I am doing lots of kegels, but wanted to know if it ever goes away? Did you do lots of kegels? Did it just come back naturally? Would love any tips and reassurance.

Also wondering if anyone knows of a more environmental approach to pads. I know there are non-chlorinated pads, but I wondered if there's anything one can reuse? Like a special dipe/pad made for mamas that I can just wash?

To answer your questions.... yes, and yes.

Beyond the kegels, if the bladder thing is really bugging you I would see a physical therapist who specializes in women's health issues. They have all sorts of exercises that you can do to help with this. My mom had bladder issues (not total incontinence, but had to pee like every 30 minutes) throughout my entire life until about 4 years ago when she mentioned it to her PT. After a month of exercises she has slept through the night without having to get up once - for the first time in her life.

For the pads, check out "mama pads" - basically they're the cloth diaper equivalent of a pad for moms. Lots of reviews at www.diaperpin.com. I haven't used them myself (I'm going on 3 years with no period now, and having had a c/s with my son I wasn't really thinking about the environment after his birth) but they look nice and soft and comfy.

Congrats on your new baby and HBAC!
