Wow, I just got this http://www.nineacres.com/mei-tai-convertible.cfm (that's my husband with my little girl!) and it's SOOOOOO comfy.

Dd LOVEs to be facing out, and it was really hard to do in anything but the kkafp I have, but this works and supports her. I couldn't do the bjorn/snuggli because they hurt my shoulders and back, and the kkafp is too HOT right now (it's been 70-75 all week) and my kkacp is too tight to use (spoiled by fleece, eh?).

The only bad part is that I literally have to peel it off of dh, he thinks it's part of his wardrobe now. :LOL

Oops gotta run, I hear singing from the bed, someone wants up!

Yah look at the top pic (her dh and ds) where there is a brown stripe cloth across his back - on that one it snaps off completely, but on mine it snaps off on one side and folds around the other strap (does that make sense?) so it won't get lost - if mine came off on both sides it would get lost instantly.

It's not a padded part, just a double thickness of the cloth, like the straps are, to provide back support when facing in, but it snaps away so you can face out. If it were there and my dd were facing out, the strap would go across her face.

I went for a walk for a mile and it was more comfy than my mai tai and way better than my sling. But dd is almost 17# so I really need a 2 shoulder carrier for her now. I can't wait to have some blankets to put on it, it'll be like a fashion show, switch out fabrics for the weather and for going out. Teehee, I'm a little obsessed with slings and stuff.

Grr, dh put it in the washer! Not that I didn't want to wash it (babe spit up on it) but I wanted to wash it when I didn't need to use it! OH well. At least it'll be clean again!

Why apprehensive? I think it's brilliant and will be a nice alternative to regular MT's

It looks really neat
..

But I do have a question.. It looks like she is hanging by her crotch is she?? Or is her little tushie cradled by the straps? Genuinely curious becase my DD is 27# and I worry about it putting too much pressure on her spine.

Not hanging at all.. the way the straps are crossed, they go under the bum and then back out again, her weight is all on her thighs and bum, it's VERY supportive, not like the way they hang in the bjorn (which is bad for their spines).

I know a mama who has a 14 mo. old and uses one (actually my dh was wearing hers in the pic) - maybe she can give you more info about heavier babes...

It's pretty darn cool.

Oooh yah Kris, Texas is the place to have one. I swear, I get SO hot in the wraps, this is not hot to wear at all.

I think you can order them right off the website? Click on a color choice.. I just realized there are more pics once you do that - teehee, I'm the one with Lauren in a high back carry - she's only 4 mos old but it worked!

Hi! I've been using the Blanket-less MT (BMT) for awhile now, too and it DOES really support a babe front-facing-out (FFO). The baby in the pic looks a little like she's dangling because she was swinging her legs! (Look at the one foot the farthest out . . .you can see it's a little blurred!)

I'm the mama with the 14 month old. She loves it FFO and my 3 y/o loves to do a back carry in it!

Vicki, yah that's *my* problem... I keep finding them and I HAVE to have them. It all started innocently enough when I was pregnant, I bought myself a kkafp for my winter babe after doing all the research - I thought I'd only have one winter and one for summer that I'd buy in the spring.

hahahahaha! I think the joke was on my husband (or maybe my paypal account) because I'm now obsessed.

Ooops! Didn't mean for it to sound negative when I said I was apprehensive about buying a new one. The stress comes more from atually spending the money than from the product itself, lol.
We are "transitioning" right now from two incomes to one.

Thanks for the feedback from those of you who already have one!
