Hi, everyone -

So Sweetpea (8 months old as of today!) has four teeth - two on the bottom, and two on the top. The ones on the top are still coming in, though. The other day he was clicking his teeth (shudder), then he put his finger in his mouth and pulled it out covered in blood. Ack!! He seemed oblivious, and not in any pain. The bleeding quickly stopped. Then today, I caught a glimpse of his upper teeth, and the gums around one of the teeth looks sort of swollen and grayish.

Do I need to bring him to the doctor? Or does it sound like he just cut his upper gums with his lower teeth? Has anyone had this happen??

Again, he doesn't seem to be in any pain, although he has been sleeping even worse than usual lately. (He's a one 30 minute nap a day baby anyway...never has been a big sleeper)

Thanks for any advice!!

Worse sleep is definitely a teething thing.

Since he's not in pain and the gum isn't bleeding profusely, I'd say just check his mouth as he'll let you and get him checked out if it's not looking normal in a few days. From my experiences in losing teeth, I'd guess that the gum should stop bleeding within a day or two, so if it's still bleeding Friday morning, get him checked out.

Anyway, that's how I'd handle it if it were Lina.

Hopefully this'll either work for you or will get other people to make better suggestions.
