Last time I had massive oversupply, baby had green poops, weight gain was amazing but I was constantly frustrated. I really want a more normal supply this time. I am trying to start block feeding earlier but it's so hard! I am SO ENGORGED! She just cannot get through one breast before the other one is rock-hard, and I do not want to get mastitis or anything. Right now we just started the right-breast block (about 1 hr ago) and she nursed for a few 15-minute sessions with breaks. But my right breast is still full and so is the left one and we still have three hours (but only one more session, based on her nursing pattern) on this side.

So that will still be all fore-milk, and worse, my left breast will be miserable. It leaked during her first nurse on the right side! Ack!

Anyone have any tips?

Put cabbage on your breasts inside your bra and change it out every 2 hours until engorgement pain goes away. It worked wonders for me and it worked fast. I was so engorged my baby couldn't latch on at all.

For immediate purposes you could try pumping or manually expressing, though it will probably hurt a lot if you are that engorged.

Good luck.

But pumping will increase my supply in the long-term and that is not what I want at all. I had oversupply for a YEAR with my first, and no pumping. It would feel wonderful to pump or even have my toddler top them off but, uh, no. However I will try the cabbage trick!
