I just had some blood taken at the midwife - about 7 vials and I feel like I have been hit by a truck! I actually fell asleep at 7pm, slept for 30 mins and have been groggy ever since.

Anyone else experience this?

I'm usually okay after blood draws, but I've never had that much blood taken (besides donation). Do you think your iron is low? Seven vials is a lot, and maybe your body needs a little time to recover. I would mention it to the MW.

Low iron is what I assumed too - I took extra Floravit to be on the safe side. Still feeling a little flattened today, but I will hopefully feel more awake soon

I have never had this happen before!

That happens to me every time! For me I know it's not low iron (I'm borderline polycythemic) so I don't know what it is. Just drink lots and relax as much as you can until you feel better!

Someone told me the standard vial is only like a teaspoon of blood! So overall that's not that much at all. It may just be a stress response to the having your blood drawn and seeing the vials. Heck, I fainted when I got mine drawn last month (and I was lying down!).
