ok. I do not go eek when I see a bug, but, well, I may go eek quietly. Anyhoo....I place my dd bm dipes in a shopping bag, then toss it in a wet-proof diaper bag until wash day, always every 2-3 days max. Well ... I could see teeny tiny little flying buggy things all over her bm dipe in the bag.......so I threw it out! It just made me all yucky and it was a used simple velcro dipe that I could spare. But then her next poop, same thing happened! I have been cloth diapering for 6 months now, and even in the heat of the summer, we never drew bugs! Any thoughts, want to share in my embarassment!? anyone?!

Did she start solids recently?? Especially fruit?? That would draw flies like, well... flies LOL..... EBF poop doesn't seem to draw bugs, but solids poop I think does more so...

Someone who actually KNOWS facts about this, feel free to correct me... LOL...

I don't think it's you or anything... just "mama nature"

Thank you! She has been eating more food lately! Still small amounts, but more and more as the days go by! This makes much more sense! I feel some relief, lol!

I think it is the part of the season we are in, seriously. I noticed those kinds of bugs in the house when spring started and not that fall is coming I am noticing them around again. Just wash the dipe up, it will be fine.

Just curious why you use a shopping bag and not a pail. And what do you do with the bag after you take the dirty dipe out?

I keep a spray bottle filled with warm water an 2 drops of lavendar essential oil next to my diaper pail. When I have an especially stinky diaper, I give it a spray. Lavendar smells pretty and it is also antibacterial. I also have a spray bottle with tea tree oil and water, but that doesn't smell as pretty.

I've never had a problem with bugs.

they like the BM in the diaper because babies don't fully digest/process food and there is still a lot of sweet fruity stuff in there (not that I want to know that much about BM LOL) but I have had it too, if DH doesn't spray a poopy and puts it in the pail dirty (DOUBLE ICK) or even worse leave it on the back of the toilet for me to take care of. The diaper will be fine though, and soon it will be winter and fruit flies will gone!~
