Okay, my confidence is beginning to waiver...I am 24 wks pg with my girls and have gained 33 lbs and people have started telling me there is no way I'll go full term because I am (normally) so small. Shrugging off the comments have been easy but now I am beginning to wonder. I am 5'4" and preprg wt is about 98 lbs. Both of my singletons were term or "late" and I gained over 50 lbs with each of them. So is there any truth to small people delivering twins earlier?

Dont listen to other people's negative comments, especially if they themselves have never had twins. If you went to term or even late your body will probably do the same again. No one can say for sure what your body will do. Just continue drinking alot of water daily and get the proper rest and take care of yourself.
I am also small 5'2 and 108 and I also went to term and/or late with my singleton boys and with my girls I went to term with "twins", 36w. They were 4'9 and 5'8. Appropriate size for my body. All three pregnancies compared relative to each other, with the exception I got alot bigger with the girls
.
So just continue to listen to your body and what it does in pregnancy. You know your body better than anyone.
Take care of yourself.

I am 5'6" and 125-130 average prepregnancy -- I had a lot of preterm labor scares and delivered at 29 weeks. I know of several women way smaller than me who went full term. I think a lot of it has to do with nutrition before and during pregnancy as well as stress levels. Other problems that can occur don't have a thing to do with size of the mother(barring extremely obese I guess, but again that kind of falls under nutritional too I think). Good luck -- stay confident and just listen to your body!

I ran this by my doc, and she said no way. I am 5 feet tall, and short waisted. She told me to expect to carry very forward, because after all there is no other place for the babies to go. Other than that no difference in when you deliver based on size.

No way mama - the awesome staying power of your uterus and cervix are not predicted by your size. I am 5'5", with tiny hips, about 120, and was induced at 38 weeks, showing no sign of going into labor. I think the best thing you can do is eat well and gain lots of weight so that the babies don't try to make an early exit to take their chances outside. I gained a shopping 65 pounds and looked like a total freak, but it was worth it. Hang in there!

I agree with everyone. Size means nothing about how long you will carry. Ignore the haters. Now, I am a large woman, and I was induced at 34w. My best friend also has twins but is tiny, and went into labor spontaneously at 37w, and both of her girls were over 5lbs.
