Hi All,

My sister decided she liked Blackberry from the recent knitty, however I do not like it. So, I'm looking for a bolero that an 18yo snobbish girl might like that'd be an somewhat easy pattern to do....any ideas??

Hope that helps I personally want to knit the Blackberry from knitty, why don't you like it...?

Another thought is that you could just design your own. From looking at the patterns, lots of them are just a rectangle that is then seamed from each end to make the arms with the middle left open... It can't be too hard

Thanks! I may just do that, however, I'd actually like her to wear it, kwim? As for blackberry, it's just not my style...looks a bit too clunky for me.

Would love to know which one you choose to make and maybe share some pics when you get it done

I like this bolero style jacket from blue alvarez:

http://www.bluealvarez.com/bluealva/...vacardigan.pdf (pdf file)

I'm currently knitting it for myself and it's a pretty easy knit so far. Her directions are pretty straight forward. I've been knitting almsot two years, but still consider myself a beginnger/advanced beginner and it's been super easy for me to follow along and I like the results of the sleeve + half back I have so far However, I wouldn't put in the knitting time unless I was sure the person you were going to give it to would love it (like the boyfriend sweater theory, only applied to picky 18 year old sisters )

I do like knitty's blackberry and thought about making it next (thinking that shrugs would be cute once my preggo belly starts to show) but the cables and bobbles intimidate me since I don't have a lot of experience with knitting either. Practice makes perfect, right?
