Hi everyone,

We're TTC #2 and planning a homebirth. What are the very best books to read to prepare for a homebirth. As soon as I get that
I am running out to buy a bunch so I need some advice.

I've heard that Ina May's Guide was a good one. Any opinions? Also, has anyone read Mothering's natural birth book? How was that?

Anything else? I'm hoping to hire a doula and have a midwife and I want to prepare myself mentally as much as possible.

Thanks!

I read Birthing from Within when pregnant w/my 2nd, wish I had read it the first time! And yes, Ina May is good reading. I really honed in to her "use your primal brain" thing to help myself turn my thoughts off during labor and just let myself go with it and not fight it. As with any "how to" books, take what works for you from them and toss the rest!

I worked really hard all the way through my 2nd pregnancy to prepare for the birth (first birth in hospital, epidural, etc.). And I really think all the reading, fantasizing and soul searching truly helped me get through labor and stay positive and work with my body.

I havent' read Motherings book, didn't know they had one!
