Hi! I will not go into my long saga of recent issues with my ds who is becoming ever the more strong willed but I am looking for a book suggestion for a persistent, strong willed, stubborn ( if I may say so) 6 year old. I thought of "Kid Cooperation" , "Easy to Love Difficult to Discipline" any other ideas?, which Gentle Discipline book is your favorite, I want practical advice that I can actually apply. Thanks Mamas for all your help!

Google it to see if he shows the other characteristics first...

Also, make sure to remove food additives like red dye and high fructose syrup from his diet.

I really like Becky Baily's "Easy to love..." and I also got some great insights from , "hold on to your kids" by Gordon Neufeld (not sure if that's spelled correctly.

I found both at the public library; but they are worth the $10 or so to keep as a reference. The second is a faster read, imo.

Oh, I like The Explosive Child too.
http://www.amazon.com/Explosive-Chil...7957396&sr=1-1

Thankyou Thankyou!!! We are pretty pure, so no red dyes or corn syrup, he definetly does react to that... we eat mostly organic, I have toyed with food allergy ideas, however this is a more recent thing. He seems more needy in terms of physical contact in every facet both affection and goofing with him, he is even more physical with his sister (not in a bad way) he tries to wrestle, carry her and give piggy back rides, however although they are only 2 years apart he is 4 foot 3 and 80 pounds a big solid 5 yr old so I have to be careful because as I say he is a 5 year old in a 9 or 10 year olds body. So I feel like I am constantly nagging, "be careful", "be gentle" yada yada... And I said I was not going to get into things didn't I?

So anyways I am in definite need of a new way of communicating with him, I feel like we are on this negative path, I am having a hard time finding the good to recognize and being pretty critical of the bad. I am reserving those books now from our library! Thanks again Mamas!!!
