My 6 yo ds is getting the tetanus only vaccine next week. He has not had any other vaccines of any kind and this will be his only one.... My question is what vitamins and/or homeopathics would be good to give him in order boost his immune system and stave off any possible side effects... if this is even possible... thanks for any input.... I am not really looking for discussion on why or why to vaccinate for tetanus--- this decision has been made.... just trying to help him when he gets the shot as best as possible! Thanks!

Just wondering-is this the Tetanus only vax?or a Dt or dT?<br><br>
Are you going to "finish "the sries of 3 shots ?Do only 1 ?<br><br>
My "understanding"is that it takes more than 1 to show an immune response-are you going to have his titers checked afterward?<br>

I believe its the tetanus only vaccine. I called the office this week to request this shot for his well visit next week and wanted to make sure they had some in office... Dr said he didnt but would make sure he had it next week so I will wait and see what he actually has when I get there... what is the difference between dT and Td ( I know the "d" is for diptheria but why 2 different names?) I only want to give him the tetanus not diptheria.....<br>
I will probably do the series if doc feels necessary but might just do the one for now.... and decide after seeing how he reacts etc whether to do whole series....<br><br>
malamamama, thanks for your response, I did do search and got some good ideas, vit c, vit a etc... was just looking for some more suggestions someone might not have posted yet! Or if anyone who did do the shot had some more insight!!<br><br>

I asked our paed. about doing the single tetanus vaccine and he said that the single T vaccine was only avail. with thimiserol and the DTaP was avail. w/o and he was less concerned about reactions from the DTaP than thimiserol. But, he seems totally OK about us not doing any vaccines at all, too.<br><br>
Not sure if his availability info. is correct everywhere.

The DT vax is "full "strength diptheria & tenaus componets & if it is Td it is a smaller amount of diptheria & full strength tetanus -there is -<br>

Td-give for persons >7 years of age<br>
