HI all!

A few questions this evening-- I found a cute pattern for baby booties, well, they're more like slippers (felted fooshies from Knit Baby) and I was wondering

1) Can you felt merino?
sub question - would you want to?
2) I have never made anything in a shoe shape before-- is it hard?
3) There is a non-felted cotton "sock" type cuff -- any recommendations for a good stretchy cotton yarn that comes in solid colors?

Thanks!!!

Hello,

I know the pattern you're talking about. Yes, you can felt merino, as long as it is not superwash.

That pattern requires you to use double-pointed needles. If you feel comfortable using them and picking up stitches, you should be fine. The felting hides a multitude of sins. You can buy sock yarn with some elastic in it at www.elann.com, I believe.
