My 4-month-old baby has a bubble palate (causes sucking problems and PAIN) and we are moving to part-time pumping and EBM bottlefeeding for the sake of my extremely damaged nipples. I especially will be using bottles when I go out in public, because nursing her without my billions of pillows and perfect back support is agonizing. However, I am very, very pro-BF and HATE the idea of people seeing me give her a bottle...I feel like I am contributing to the bottlefeeding/formula culture. The irony of it all--I really don't mind NIP, and feel proud to do it, except for the pain!

Anyway, I saw, somewhere, a bottle that had "mama's milk" printed on it. Does anyone know where I can buy these???

medela has the bottles that say stuff like "100% pure breastmilk" and "breastmilk is best" and stuff like that BUT you can't really see it unless you put the bottle in front of your eyes, the words are the same color as the bottle....

but I'm interested too in knowing about other bottles!

Just take a black permanant marker and write something on it, like, It's breastmilk, or mama's milk or whatever you want it to say. If you are artistically talented you can get colored sharpies and go crazy...LOL

Lansinoh breastmilk storage bags say 'My Mommy's Milk' on them, they are relatively new but I've seen them at grocery stores. It's printed in dark purple that shows up nicely against the EBM.

I know how you feel. Every time I had to supplement my oldest daughter in public, I was telling everyone within earshot that it was expressed breastmilk instead of formula. I felt so small and so like a failure, and it didn't help with the PPD and PTSD I was suffering at the time, either. I was so ashamed that I was unable to nurse my baby like any other mammal mother. I felt like everyone was judging me, when really I was the one being so critical of myself instead.

You know what? Strangers don't care how or what you are feeding your baby. Friends and family already know the difficulties you are going through, even if they don't understand. Hold your head up high because you know you are doing the best you can! And hang in there, it is possible that your baby will outgrow her physical limitations and will be able to nurse effectively someday (mine did). *Then* you can make a point out of nursing her in public every chance you get!

Lansinoh makes 4 oz. glass bottles that say "My Mommy's Milk" on them in purple writing. I bought some at my local breastfeeding supply/pump rental store.

What a great solution to give you confidence!

I was an EP'er for 10 weeks (my daughter didn't latch till 10 weeks old) and I hated hated hated bottlefeeding in public. I felt so self conscious. It's silly really, but I did.

Congrats on your continued drive to give your babe mama's milk!!

Those bottles are great! I, too, had to pump for several weeks before DS latched on...and I always felt self-conscious about it. I hated that people might think I was feeding formula. I am not comfortable nip (i need pillows), so I pump if we're going to be out for a long time. My ds prefers drinks out of bottles like they are cups, and I bet he'd really like these because they are glass.

I have a set of these too! I bought them from Wal-Mart when I had my first dd. I haven't used them much since I never really pumped a lot but they are really cute.

I love that lansinoh prints this on their bottles. I really like that they are glass as well.

evenflo ultra nipples fit nicely on these bottles. They are a wide nipple that fits on a regular size bottle.

Best wishes on overcoming these difficulties.
I use Evenflo collars and nipples on the Lansinoh glass bottles too, they fit perfectly

http://store.yahoo.com/naturalbaby/realglasbabb.html
(we use silicone nips though, they are safer b/c they are inert, latex breaks down).

I know this is a very old post for me to bump, but does anyone know where to find the Lansinoh glass bottles that say "My Mommy's Milk" on them?

Another lactivisty-idea would be to create a bag or shirt from cafepress that says something like, "Breast is best...I express!" or, some other pumping-positive phrase.

I remember seeing Lansinoh bottles like this at either Target or Wal Mart a while back. I'm thinking more Wal Mart actually... : I remember going in there and being surprised to see some Lansinoh branded things I hadn't seen in other stores. I can't remember how long ago this was though and I'm not sure if they were glass, they may have been plastic.
