I just got off the phone with a mom who is in the hospital still (had her baby Tuesday), and has a bunch of breastfeeding problems thanks to our lovely formula-pushing hospital here in town.

She was given a bottle to use for supplementing (by the LC on staff) that they told her will teach her baby how to suck at the breast (her baby is having trouble latching on). I have never heard of such a thing, and I don't put it past these LCs to just have made this up given what I have seen them do in the past.

Help me out here......have any of you ever heard of such a thing? Not that I would believe it works, I don't understand the logic of how a bottle is going to teach breastfeeding.:
