Hi
I am in denver and new here so I dont have any recomendations. I hope your move goes well. There is not much traffic on this site for colorado moms, there is a little more on the www.coloradoap.com board. I know someone who used to teach at Boulder Journey School and has good things to say about them.

I'm not in Boulder anymore, but I did want to tell you that we used Children's Alley on occasion while I was finishing my degree and we were very happy with their care. My son was also at Jarrow Montessori, and we were very happy there as well. Good luck to you!

Hi!

I am in Boulder but my kids are much older than yours, I have a senior in high school, and a 9 (almost 10) year old and a 7 year old.

The bus system (RTD) is pretty good and getting around by bike is easy, most streets have bike lanes and the bike path is great. BTW, none of your links worked except the first one and it took me to the British Motorcycle Charitable Trust.

I am sure you will love Boulder and will soon meet some friends.

Well, I'm not sure how much help I can be wrt housing or childcare as I'm not familiar with N Boulder and my DS isn't of childcare age yet. But, I can offer other info like where to click for bike route info:

http://www.getboulder.com/sports/sports_bicycle.html

Bus info:

http://www.bouldercolorado.gov/index...756&Itemid=320

And friendship:

Definitely check out Cherished Children if you are an AP Mama. I've made excellent connections there.

Also, Parenting Place has drop in play groups & all kinds of fun programs each week. And, perhaps of special interest to you, they offer a Japanese play group twice a month. Their calendar is available at:

http://www.boulderparenting.org/calendar.html

My experience with the Boulder/Longmont area is that it's very child & parent friendly. So, just about anywhere you go, you'll have a chance to make friends. But feel free to drop my a PM when you arrive.

Wishing you a smooth transition back to the US (and sorry that it's without DH).

My dd isn't much older than your ds could you ask any of your friends about their reccomendations on childcare. I've never been away from dd before so the quality of the daycare is extremely important to me.

Most of my friends are SAHM who don't use childcare, I'm afraid. But, my very conscientious neighbor takes her son to the East Boulder Rec Center several mornings a week. They offer exceptional child care from 8:45am-1pm, Mon-Fri.

There may be people in the Cherished Children group who use child care from time to time, but I'm not sure how many of them are based in Boulder. You're welcome to join the group and post requests for recommendations if you'd like. Here's the link:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CherishedChildren-API/

Oh, and this same neighbor (who's judgment I totally trust) plans to send her DS to Bixby School (http://www.bixbyschool.org/) this fall. He'll be 2 1/2 so I don't know if that's the youngest they'll take or not, but it's worth a shot if all else fails.

Good luck!

Hello! I just joined this forum today in hopes that I can connect to more like-minded mamas. Being new on the block, I'm definitely finding it hard to meet folks similar to my friend circle in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I am a homebirth midwife in training (feels like a never-ending process), postpartum doula and mama to two girls, three and six. Unfortunately, since my husband works at IBM, we are living in a very suburbanite side of western Longmont. I feel as if I will turn into soccer mom if I don't hurry up and meet some new people!!

I just wanted to drop in and say hi also

we just got back from a Colorado trip in preparation for dh's transfer to Denver within the next month or two. We'll be living somewhere N. Boulder as dd just got into a school there.

Boulder felt very family friendly, and pretty friendly in general. We also felt like the whole area just had a great energy. I loved all the sunny days. I am really looking forward to getting out of NJ.

For the mamas in Longmont---what a cool playground off the diagonal highway! Can't think of the name right now--was part of a large park system. We were so impressed!
