FORT COLLINS, Colo. - A 4-year-old boy who was inadvertently blitzed by a college football player during a game has 30 stitches in his head, but he’s recovering well, his father said Tuesday.

It was the spring youth football festival at Colorado State on Saturday, and Caden Thomas was wandering along the sidelines with his father during the team’s intrasquad game. They were near the end zone when wide receiver George Hill, trying to catch a touchdown pass, didn’t see the boy in time and crashed into him.

“Well, there’s the sickening thud,” Caden’s father, Michael Thomas, said Tuesday. “I was just tremendously worried about the rest of his life. You make automatic assumptions there will be some damage when you see something that horrific.”

When I first saw the title my stomach turned thinking it was on purpose. I hope the boy recovers quickly

I do not think people should have small children on the sidelines.

You HAVE to be able and ready to get the heck out of the way.

I am so glad the boy is ok. How scary!

That poor receiver too, a lot of those guys are big teddy bears, I am sure he was pretty upset.

I got run down during a practice once. I wasn't looking. : Photographers and I were chatting and we ended up in a pile. However *WE* got made fun of, if I remember correctly I got called a little frizzball.

Poor little guy

Getting plowed over like villagers in a Godzilla movie is not hot. :

Particularly when Godzilla stops to pat you on the head as you are picking bits of turf out of your dignity.

I saw the tape of the accident and I wanted to cry for him. Brave little guy. You can see his face and he looks shocked and then the pain must of set in and you see him start crying and he puts his little hand up to his head which was already bleeding.

The coach apparently called the kid too. That was nice of him.

Oh, goodness! I saw this last night, that video didn't show the poor things neck getting half snapped. Poor little boy.

I feel bad for the football player too...I'll bet he feels terrible.

I'm glad it wasn't more serious. I find the football player's initial reaction touching, how he picked up the little boy first thing. It was sweet that he was so concerned. I'm glad everyone is doing well.
