Hey all!

I'm 19w2d, and have been feeling very brief BH contractions for the past few days. Usually just once or twice in a day. This is my second pregnancy, and I've read they can start earlier with each subsequent pregnancy, but this seems so early. Anyone know if this is within the realm of normal?

I had crazy BH in the last few weeks before DS was born, and he came 6 days early. I just want to be sure this isn't going to mean I might be a candidate for preterm labour.

Yes. Braxton Hicks start as early as 6-8 weeks, but usually you just can't feel them until the second half of the pregnancy. I have a very sensitive uterus, so I've been feeling them for several weeks now (I'm 16.5 weeks now) It doesn't mean you're going to have this baby early, it just means you're more aware of your uterus.

Thankyou! I didn't know that. I just did a search and found a long thread from about 2 months ago on the July DDC about BH's - so they were all around where we are now, and many mamas were just starting to feel them. So I feel better!

I've had BH since the first trimester this time around -- they have gotten earlier and earlier with each pg, I assume b/c my uterus has been well-used by now
and knows to get practicing from the time the stick shows 2 lines, lol.

I've been feeling them for a while now too. I'm 16.5 weeks. I felt them around 19 or 20 weeks with my dd (first pregnancy) and they had me so nervous, but I was prepared for them to start around then. However, I started feeling them around 12 weeks this time and I was surprised. Reading that others are feeling them too makes me feel so much better. Can't believe I spent the entire second half of my first pregnancy worried about them only to have my daughter arrive 6 days past her due date!

Me too! I started at about 16wks - didn't realize what it was til I reached down and felt my belly all hard/tight.

its way worse for me when I'm not drinking enough, so if you notice them more, down a bit of water.

Last night, I was having this strange stomach cramp, but it felt like it was in my stomach not uterus (uterine cramps would still be at the belly buttom area or below right? mine felt like a sideache that got moved to my abdomen and it went all the way up to below my ribcage). It would get worse to breathe big breaths and lasted for a few minutes perhaps. My muscles seemed finicky after that before I went to sleep and this morning, but not as bad.
It could be too overlaughing as something really cracked me up last night and I laughed til I had tears-maybe 30 minutes before...so...any ideas?

I've had a similar experience with cramps/pains around the lower rib cage. Wondering if it could be round ligament pain? I know that's usually in the pelvic area but there have to be other round ligaments in other places right:)

I've got some this go around that are already taking my breath away. I'm not even 18 weeks yet. I'm going to have one toned uterus with these strong contractions so soon!

I let Piper feel one of the contractions today. My uterus was rock hard. So she got to feel it.

You can add me to the club! I am 17 weeks today and have just started feeling them the past few days. Just a few each day. At first I thought I was just too busy and not drinking enough, but yesterday and today I have been very relaxed and drinking like crazy. . .and have still felt them. In fact, today it felt quite distinct, I have felt maybe two or three today where I suddenly feel crampy in the lower abdomen and then notice that its hard too. Not painful though just kinda uncomfortable for a few minutes.

Hoping its nothing to worry about. . .seems to be normal even for a first-timer.
