SF lists brazil nuts but doesn't have them listed in the recipes section for crispy nuts. I soaked them with a heaping TBSP of salt overnight & they've been in the dehydrator for 7 hours - they've got to be done by now.

Does anyone make these the NT way? I think they're so-so, Dd1 is eating them but Dd2 said "Blech!" They're too big to fit in Ds's mouth. I think our favorites are walnuts, pecans & cashews. Almonds are so-so which is fine since they're pasteurized now & we won't be buying them. I cannot find macadamia nuts! Trader Joe's has roasted ones & WF doesn't have them (or at least they didn't yesterday.) I'll have to check my local HFS. Am I missing any good ones?

I actually read the same thing - that's why I bought them! Ditto about not being crazy about them.

I started taking a selenium supplement by Now brand, but I wonder if I need to since we eat so many nuts....

I haven't tried making crispy Brazil nuts, but one of the "crispy" nut companies (I think it is "Gone Nuts"} makes a chocolate covered Brazil nut/berry mix (not raisins, but some other dried fruit). It's made with raw cacao powder, and is yummy. A great way to get the selenium in Brazil nuts if the plain don't appeal.
