My oven died a week ago and I've yet to find a good replacement. So I've been cooking on the stovetop (which works) and in my toaster oven. However, I usually make No Knead Bread (ala NYTimes) every day.

Today I made the nicest loaf using my gas grill. I knew this would work because last year in the summertime (When it was too hot to turn on the oven) I had already tried it, but never posted about it.

So in case you were wondering you can make bread in your grill.

I just used the normal No Knead Bread recipe. I use a small crock pot crock (most people use a small dutch oven) I just put the crock on the grill with the lid closed. My grill had a thermometor so I waited till it got around 400 degrees. Then I took the lid off and put the bread in it. Then cooked it for about 15 minutes. I had to make sure the temp was stayed around 400.

Then took the lid off and cooked for a few more minutes. And out came the nicest loaf of No Knead Bread. Mainly I just used my grill like an oven, but I think it's pretty great to have fresh bread even when it's hot hotside (or your oven breaks) if you have a grill.
