To me, this is a perfect example of why some women shouldn't have children at all! Whether or not the baby got the drugs through breastmilk or through picking something up off the floor and eating it, there should NOT have been a baby in this home. And if the drugs really did pass through her system (and we're all careful about what we eat because of this possibility, so I'm not sure I'm willing to automatically discount the possibility), then here is one of those rare special circumstances where a woman shouldn't breastfeed.

Sooooo, if she just left it around the house for her 3 month old son to eat, then its just an accident? But if he got that amt through bfeeding its murder?!?!?! Seems screwy to me.

Not to diminish the tragedy of this story, but I just need to VENT that the media LOVES to print stories like this, but how many positive BFing stories does CNN or any other media giant run in a year? Ignorant people will read this and think that breastfeeding can be dangerous. Drugs can be dangerous. Stupidity, selfishness, lack of support for mothers, especially poor mothers and single mothers, all of these things can be dangerous, to individuals as well as to society. But breastfeeding has taken another hit in the eyes of our culture.
