So, I've never had any bf problems, and am wondering if I might have thrush. DD is 2 and still nursing like a little fiend. Last week I was having incredibly sore nipples but just chalked in up to premenstrual stuff. But now for about 2 days, I've had this shooting pain sort of under my nipples, throughout the day. It isn't terrible pain but definitely feels weird and different. Any ideas? The reason I'm thinking yeast is DD just got this rash on her inner thighs this weekend, near her diaper regions and again, she has never had a rash like it before. My breasts/nipples looks totally normal. And for what its worth, I eat a ridiculous amount of sweet

Yes, it might be.

We've had thrush (my dd and I) off and on since she was, like 6 weeks or something crazy. The last time I had it, dd showed no signs but nursing was KILLING me. I thought dd was biting or doing something wierd. It took my LL leader to say 'maybe you have thrush....' Nursing was VERY painful, I was very scared that I would have to stop nursing or something terrible, it was such a relief to discover it was just good ole thrush.

I treat with athletes foot cream for my nipples and dd has a prescription of Nystatin. I have also heard of using gentin violet, lots of folks really like that. I also try to be good about washing toys and sucking things and the like.

I am a big fan of 'just try to ignore it, it might go away' but that has never helped me in the thrush department, so don't be afraid to DO SOMETHING. If it is thrush, you should start feeling better right away.

Good luck....

If the rash she has is tiny red spots, it probably is yeast, and you probably have thrush. I agree with pp about treatment . . . I have a terrible time with yeast, and have always had to do something about it. I actually found a great probiotic that worked for me like nothing has ever worked before (including other types of probiotics). That and cutting out all sugar for me is the only thing that made it go away.

It's so painful . . . I hope it's better soon.
Good luck!
