i had this with my first baby, but thought it was thrush in the ducts... (i had the 6 month yeast infection when i was pregnant).. then i developed nipple vasospasm and thought it had been the beginning of that. but i have the pain agian in my right breast and there is no nipple blanching, so it's not vasospasm.

i am 2.5 days PP and the pain comes and goes, it's a throbbing, achy pain.

i'm guessing it's in the ducts from the milk coming in, but any thoughts or experiences?

It could be Reynaud's Syndrome. You might want to look up more info on it. I have a friend who has this and has extreme pain while breastfeeding. She's still at it, though, almost a year later.

reynaud's syndrom in the nipple is a primary form of nipple vasospasm. mine was from nipple damage. (which makes it secondary) though i did have a fairly severe case. but my nipple isn't blanching. and this isn't during nursing. it's just a throbby achy on and off pain in the ducts.

My LC said I have RS too. I am not sure if it is primary or secondary b/c my nips have always been super sensitive to touch and cold. Showers and cold weather were painful to me prior to BF. But I have also had every darn BF problem there is and I have only been doing it for 9w. I had thrush which I think caused nipple damage and my nips do blanche. I don't feel pain when I nurse but I feel electrical currents in my breast tissue btwn nursings...I'm still confused on whether it is vasospasms, my milk filling up or my letdown reflex. I did the VitB6 regiment and it did nothing. I am on my second round of nfedipine but I am still having the 'pains'. My pains are worse when my breasts are empty and are less painful as I fill up...they are very painful when I go outside and my nips harden as it is very cold here in NY right now. It used to feel more like a pulsing current but now it sometimes feels like hot lava or acid is coursing through my veins. I don't think it is yeast anymore b/c we have no other symptoms...I hope things get better for you...

you may want to start a new thread about this, but i took magnesium and nacin for my spasms. worked ike a charm, but i also cleared up my nipple damage with better latching.

i think what is happening now for me is something else,
