I am having a routine breast ultrasound (my first) tonight and wondering if anyone knows whether I need to pump? Nursing my 28mo dd. at night.

I am assuming no, b/c it is just radio waves, but still wanted to get feedback. I am having trouble finding it on kellymom and laleche.

Thanks!

ultrasound is not radio waves, it is sound waves.

Make sure the person examining you and the doc know you are lactating.

You shouldn't need to pump/dump or anything like that, no.

I'm having a breast ultrasound next week (to get a lump checked out) and I am also wondering if there's any chance it will mess up my breastmilk or whether I need to show up with empty breasts. Are there any other folks here who can chime in in support of what Ravin wrote?

Thanks!

sraplayas, do you know if your exam will be face down with your breasts in a warm pool of water, or face up with gel on your breasts? I don't know what my exam will be like, but the warm water idea sounds much nicer.
