Well, I was right on when I thought I was ovulating about 2 wks ago b/c this weekend of all weekends my first pp period arrived.

My dd is 8 mo old and nursing has been different these past few days. She has been nursing twice during the night and usually she is up only once around 4:30 - 5:30am.

I am wondering if my milk has changed in quality or quantity with the return of my cycles?

Anyone else have any insight? It could just be teething or growth spurt, but I'm not 100% set on those being the cause.

Period is over and she is still fussy up a storm. I'm worried only b/c I had no milk w/ in 6 mo of getting my cycles back w/ #2. I'd like to nurse beyond the first year. I made it to 14 1/2 mo w #2 and was disappointed when it ended.

I still say it could be teething, but I'm just a worry wort.

I recommend posting over in breastfeeding- Those women know a lot more about this stuff. There are teas you can drink to encourage more milk production, and you are right it could just be teething. But I would ask over there what people think- I'm sure they will have some good advise for you. Good luck, I hope your dc is fine!

I was going to post the same question in EBF. . . I think I ovulated two weeks ago too, and am now 20 hours into my first PPAF. For the past four or five days, I've felt like I've had less milk. I even wondered if I was about to get my period and if that would be a reason for the decrease. My "babies" are now 21 months old, so nursing for them is not what it is for an 8-month-old (though they still nurse 8-10 times a day). Nursing has been feeling slightly irritating like they're trying to squeeze drops from a dry sponge. They've been coming off and asking for "milk in a tup," which is unheard of until now (usually it's me trying to get them to have milk in a cup instead of nurse).

So, this is just my experience, but I do feel like my first PPAF is affecting my milk supply. If I were you, I'd make sure I was drinking a TON of water, maybe start drinking mother's milk tea, and nurse your babe as much as possible.

Yeah, I've brought the tea out of the cubboard! But I just have started yesterday. My dd is soooo fussy, it has to be teeth, she is moaning in her sleep poor dear and more even more aweful is the fact that if she is away from me she sleeps better!!!! I think if she smells me or feels me near she expects that nursing will comfort her and it isn't so she is getting more flustered. It is so sad.
I'm taking her to see our doc's P.A. this morning to rule out ear infection, just in case.
She seems to be getting a nice mucousy cold on top of all of it.

your dd could also be going through a growth spurt where she would want to nurse more.

.... but.... when my AF returned it was obvious that the milk supply was lower the week before/during AF. DS would always nurse a lot more, and be more fussy (and AF didn't return until he was 2). I also thought that the hormones that made me have PMS also got into his system, bc he seemed to have PMS right along with me!

And, since he was old enough to talk when AF returned, he could actually tell me that there was no milk!

Well, to beat all my bf baby has an ear infection. I look her to see the PA today. I also mentioned the change in her starting when my AF returned, the PA a woman said 'horomones' w/ a smile.

So, my dd has an ear infection, a cold, more than likely also cutting teeth, and a mama with a decreased supply. And she isn't helping increase my supply by nursing for seconds instead of minutes and crying with ear pain. She isn't emptying my breast out like she usually does, which can't be good for production sake.

(As I said in my first post, my dd is 8 mo old -- I posted in Fertility b/c it was an issue relating to AF and BF and I didn't know where to put it.)
