I've just upped from 6 glasses a day to 8. Had to do it slowly.

Reason? When I visited the US for the summer I was at a health food store and there was a person there (microscopist) who pricked my finger and showed me the slide of my blood cells that showed flat cells that were totally stuck together in strings instead of being round and floating. A big sign of dehydration.

I know I'm not drinking enough still. But a step in the right direction.

so much that i am peeing like i am still prego sometimes...

they say you should drink 6-8 8oz glasses a day...i think...at least that is what my dr told me that i should drink. if you drink that much and still feel that way you might wanna gp get checked out by your dr.
hope this helps

I drink maybe around 10 glasses a day...Also drink lots at night, every time I'm up to nurse. But I don't have to try - it's just I'm thirsty all the time. And I have very good supply, there may be a connection.

When we went home from the birth center after I had ds, they told me 4 quarts a day...and I looked at the nurse blankly...er, how much is that, exactly? She said if I had a glass of water for every hour I was awake, that should be enough, but to drink to my thirst. And to remember to keep water in bed for nighttime feedings.

It's worked for me. If you're not peeing clearly, more water. If you feel dehydrated, you probably are, more water. Water every hour that you're awake, a glass while you're nursing, and some at night...

Then you'll thank me later for your great leg muscles, hoofing it back and forth to the bathroom, hahahaha.

I drink about 160 oz every day (equivalent to 20 8 oz glasses). I had low supply issues and drinking the extra water really helped a lot. And yes, I pee constantly, but I also feel pretty good. Helps with the sleep deprivation, too.

I don't really go by a quota, but I down a 16-oz. glass every time I bf, plus more right when I wake up, before bed, and at meals. I might get about 100 oz. per day. It's hot too, so I sweat a lot. Maybe that's why I drink so much.

I almost never drink water unless I am dying of thirst, I hate it, it makes me gag. I drink iced tea, soda, juice. Bad, I know, but I drink whole foods brand soda so it's not quite as bad
FWIW, I've never had supply issues even though I don't drink much.

I drank 4 litres a day while I was pregnant (twins) and breastfeeding was actually a relief b/c I felt like I had to drink so much less.

The rule of thumb is drink to satisfy your thirst. If you have supply challenges, or feel like you might have a plugged duct coming on, more never hurts.

I made sure I just drank an entire glass everytime I paused at the kitchen sink. If I carried a glass around with me, I never got more than a sip or two before it was abandoned to change a diaper, nurse, etc.

i don't drink any water. i think it tastes bland. i do occasionally drink a propel (flavored vitamin water) and i try to drink juice and non caffinated soda. but i do have a weakness for pepsi and coffee. thankfully, my poor drinking habits have not had any effect on my milk suppy.

about 10-12 glasses a day or else I get a wicked headache. I also have times where I feel sooo thirsty even though I am drinking and peeing like crazy. I never thought drinking would feel like a chore, but it does.

snoopy- have you ever been tested for diabetes? extreme thirst and frequent urination can be symptoms, obviously I'm not a doctor and I don't want to scare you but I had weird symptoms and got checked out, it was a simple blood sugars test.
