Glad she's breastfeeding, but child porn???<br><br><a href="http://www.tmz.com/2008/09/22/mommy-pics-of-brits-sis-trigger-criminal-probe/" target="_blank">http://www.tmz.com/2008/09/22/mommy-...riminal-probe/</a><br><br><div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px;">

<table border="0" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="0" width="99%"><tr><td class="alt2" style="border:1px inset;">Because Jamie Lynn is a minor, selling the pics -- or buying them -- could constitute a violation of federal laws prohibiting child pornography. Peddling pictures of a minor's breast -- even if not taken for sexual purposes -- could land the seller and the buyer in federal prison if they are marketed across state lines for the purpose of being lurid</td>

Minor parents who are mature enough to make adult decisions should be emancipated, yes. I'm willing to extend that to many minor parents, but certainly NOT all! Some teen parents still really NEED their own parents... unfortunately, kids can have babies really young... biological capacity to reproduce does not equal ability to make competent, adult decisions.<br><br>
Not to be snarky, of course, but 13 year old mamas, probably still need their own mamas, KWIM?<br><br><br>
As far as the picture of Jamie Lyn spears... she's still a minor. She's lucky that she can use that to her advantage. Maybe she should always BF in public with her boobs fully exposed so the paps can't take her pic at all! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngtongue.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Stick Out Tongue">

Being emancipated doesn't mean mama won't be able to help though. Just that the law will treat you like an adult.

Even if she was emancipated, it would still be illegal for someone to view a photo of her breasts (she's still under 18).

In this case, I think that it actually seems reasonable.<br><br>
This, though <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy"><br><br><div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px;">

Wow, I really couldn't have predicted that would happen. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/rolleyes.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="rolleyes"> Buy yourself a good printer and be done with it.

First, I live where they live and it's Walmart or nothing. Really. Not even kind of exaggerating. I make that long haul to "something better" when I an, but sometimes I don't have a whole day to track down eggs, tyvm.<br><br>
Second, I have a hard time believing they don't have a printer. COME ON.<br><br>
Third, no one should be posting pictures of anyone's breasts under any circumstances without their permission but CERTAINLY not a child - and she is still a child...especially if you're some freak with a fetish for young girls.

I saw this on CNN and my ears perked up...<br>
The guy from TMZ was actually very well spoken about it. He said (paraphrasing) "Of course, breastfeeding is NOT indecent or obscene, but <i>using a photograph of a minor's exposed breast for lurid purposes</i> can be considered child pornography."<br><br>
So, yes, basically it would be the same if you had taken pics of your daughter, say 5 years old, at the beach in shorts, and some perv at Wal-Mart made copies and distributed them with the intention of being lurid-- that would be considered child porn. How's that for a run-on sentence?<br><br>
And yeah, Wal-Mart??? What a brilliant boy.

It's not breastfeeding as a whole, she is a minor with her breast exposed so yes in this case, it could be considered child porn.

I think it's a really sad situation.<br><br>
Sad that someone's privacy was violated. Sad that someone would even think to steal and sell someone else's photos. Sad that, to some, this will solidify the link between porn and breastfeeding. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"><br><br>
I'm all for breastfeeding pics -- when it's the mama doing the distributing!

I doubt that the pictures were stolen to be used by a perv...they were stolen because of the celeb factor...dude or dudette was trying to make some cash off of them....seems the real crime is copyright infringement - making unauthorized copies, trying to sell them. They should not link porn into this case.

I find it amusing that the person who stole the pictures thinking they could make $$$$ is now facing child porn charges IF they show or sell the pictures. Hopefully they will think twice before stealing any more family photos. I know it doesnt seem like the smartest move taking them to walmart but they were personal pictures and maybe he wast computer savy enough to dowload and print them<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngtongue.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Stick Out Tongue">

The more I think about this, the less I think it could possibly be true. These are people who sold the rights to the first public photos of their kids. They are not careless with things like this, and Jamie Lynne especially has been protective of her privacy. There is just no way they dropped off film or a memory card anywhere to have them developed.

What a circus. Honestly, I think this whole thing is ridiculous. A picture of a mother breastfeeding, no matter what her age, is NOT porn, nor should ever be referred to as such. Where's the common sense, folks?

There are lots of porn sites dedicated to fetishizing breastfeeding.<br><br>
That is really not the point, she should have control of what happens to private pictures of her body, no matter what she is doing with it and if they can slap another charge on whoever did this, maybe it won't happen so much. It's actually a fairly large problem and places are busted all the time for taking private photos they've handled or developed. There was a huge case with the "Geek Squad" taking pics from people's hard drives.<br><br>
I still don't think this is a true story, but I very strongly feel that IF it happened then her privacy was violated and someone should be getting in a massive amount of trouble.

I find the media's attention on celebrity prgnancies and babies horrific. these poor mamas and their babies are being stalked everywhere they go. It is so gross! Creepy men in bushes following them around and hiding to catch them breastfeeding- or whatever- eww.

It is not the act of breastfeeding that makes the picture qualify as pornography but the fact that her other breast was exposed and she is under the age of 18. I hope the fool who tried to sell the pictures is punished for his foolish attempt to make a few bucks.

<span>I think good on her for breastfeeding.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up"><br><br>
I recently had my entire computer- with ALL my sons photos from birth to 13 months, I had the birth photos, breastfeeding photos and everything on that computer. Stolen from me by my (mentally unhealthy abusive) biological dad (he broke in to my house). I know how upsetting and distraught I felt/feel. And I hope the offender pays for what they have done to Jamie Lynn.</span>
