Breastmilk in DC?

Anyone need any?
Or, maybe you just have a solution to my problem..

Will be in DC for 3 days, away from baby for 5. No refrigerator in my hotel room. So I COULD take a cooler, and pack the milk with ice every day but am in class 9-5, not sure if it will stay cold enough that long.

Any solutions? Or would anyone like some bm if no other solutions happen along? I would hate to just dump it down the drain, but I would rather do that, than it get too warm and make baby O sick when I get home, kwim?

by the way, disease and drug free.

Hi. You may want to ask the front desk if they have any portable refridgerators. I know many of them have some that they will lone out for your stay, but don't necessarily have enough for one in each room...

All hotels should have fridges that they can switch from room to room. My dad's diabetic, his insulin must be refrigerated, & he travels all of the time for work w/ no probs, but always calls the hotel ahead of time to make sure they will put a fridge in his room. HTH!
I tried that. They said they DO NOT have portable fridges. They have refrigerators, but ONLY in certain Business King rooms- and they are all booked. My dh said that he was going to call the manager this morning and see if their story changed any..

BUT, a friend of mine suggested I buy an electric cooler. Anyone used one for this purpose before? Can you set the temp? What temp do I need to safely store breastmilk?
If you haven't, this is a good question to post to the working moms forum.

We have an electric cooler that we use for camping. It's this one http://www.cabelas.com/products/Cpod0013221.jsp although we got ours at Costco. They usually come with only the 12V adapter for a vehicle and you have to buy the AC adapter separately (our package came with the AC adapter from Costco). You cannot set the temperature, they simply keep the temp inside so many degrees below the outside temp. When we are camping we don't use it for perishable items like meat and dairy simply because the temp flutuates too much inside (due to the hot day temps and cooler night temps). It would work more consistently in an indoor environment where the temp doesn't fluctuate so much.

There might be some out there that you can set the temp, but even the ones you can't set the temperature are expensive so likely the others would be even more expensive.

Oh, one warning if you decide to get one, most can be used as both a warmer and a cooler simply by flipping the plug the opposite way where it plugs into the cooler. If you're trying to keep breastmilk from not spoiling, you don't want to have it in the wrong way and heat up your milk! I had REALLY hot lemons one camping trip.

Are you driving? If so, you can plug the cooler into the 12V adapter on the way back, but if you're on the plane or bus, not sure how it would stay cold as these coolers aren't meant to hold ice because of the fan inside.
