Breastmilk stains???????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????

So has anyone noticed that their stored baby clothes come out with breast milk stains? Is there anything we can do to prevent this and is there anything we can do to remove the magically appeared stain?
I haven't tried sunlight yet.

I honestly do not ever remember breastmilk staining. I leaked a lot the first couple of weeks and then dd, ever the spectator of the world, would pop off and dribble on everything and it never stained. I just gave away a bunch of her clothes (2-4 years in a plastic storage container) and just laundered them with our usual laundry detergent (Era or Tide). Hydrogen Peroxide combined with some liquid dish detergent get out about any stains for me.
No stains here

but I wash a lot of clothes on hot or warm and use oxygen bleach so I have no stains.
I had the same thing happen - no stains on anything, but then they were in storage for a couple of years, and when I took them out to wash them up for Reese, spitup stains on nearly every outfit!

They did wash up well, though.

Oh, and check this thread - same issue: http://69.20.14.30/discussions/showt...astmilk+stains
It's not breast milk, it's not spit up, and it is not formula. They are storage stains. I have seen almost anything and everything come out of storage after a couple years with those yellow stains on them. Sometimes it washes out, sometimes not.

I have no idea what causes it. Maybe it is the boxes (the ones closer to the middle have less to no stains on them,) or maybe it is just dust and time. If someone figures out lemme know.

Use the acid-free tissue paper or the freshly laundered white muslin sheeting as packing material. Do not use plastic bags, as these can trap moisture and cause mildew to form or cause the yellowing of fabrics.

I had this happen and I really do think it's from spit up at least in my case. It's only in the exact places where spit-up would've been and the right shape. I stored my clothing for about 18 months when I couldn't get into them because of pregnancy and postpartum and had no stains. I stored some of DS's clothing from the "lots-o-spit-up age" for a couple months and there were stains. There weren't stains when I packed them. And I stored everything in the exact same type of plastic box. I haven't tried washing them. I'm thinking that if it doesn't wash out I'll embroider/applique over the stains or recycle them somehow.
dd gets breastmilk stains on her clothes all the time. and she doesn't spit up, she just drools some milk while eating. even one of her PINK shirts was ruined. and plenty of her (previously) white pajamas have stains on the collar.

Ditto. The stains on our baby clothes were only on clothing that was worn when Griff was young enough to be spitting up milk all the time, and mostly around the neck area. Stains from old protein. Mmmmmmm.

And yes, breastmilk can stain. We had a lot of spitup stains and I leaked a lot with Griff - those shirts have what looks like horrible oil stains right over the boobs!

I'm the biggest believer in sun to get out stains. I think I will just relaunder the lot with a shot of oxy clean and some vinegar then sun dry then relaunder and machine dry again and store until the next baby comes.

Thanks for the imput.
oh my gosh!!!this just happened to me...
I saw a "ino" post on another board..I figured i could afford to help the momma out with some clothes for her little one, cuz dd was in that size last summer...I went to the attic, got the clothes out and they ALL have stains...I know that these did NOT have stains when i stored them, and now...ALL of them have nasty yellow stains all around the collars....!!!
GGGggrrrrrr

Now, how again did you say to wash them?
it happened to all of our clothes but they washed up fine. Some things, while invisible, are always there. oxiclean and sunlight help but for most of my stuff was unessecary.

and yes itis from spit up dool and milk dribble.
Its storage stains. Some I was able to remove and some I was not. This time I am storing our baby clothes differently. Just in case of course.
