Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! Oh the things we do. I don't think it was the brewers yeast that made him reluctant to latch, I think I'm having a problem with let down. I practically get nothing from the left side after 10 min of pumping, but the right side's no problem. Anyway, I have been trying different concoctions and this is what I have come up with. Feel free to add you "favorite" mix. First I tried it with water and the glass exploded in my hand while I was mixing it. The rags I cleaned it up with started to stink so bad I thought I left a dirty nappy laying around. I re-mixed with water (in a plastic cup) and down the hatch...it just about came back up. Next I tried a smoothy by mixing it with yogurt and juice...a little better was I was still gagging. This morning I tried it with coke...all foam. Finally I mixed it with orange tang and aside from the smell it was tollerable. I hear good things about the stuff and I don't want to dismiss it yet.

Just thought I'd share.

I'm not sure about pills, I have not looked at them but would'nt I have to take so many? I am thinking cost wise. I will look into them, if I can find them. Also, is'nt mothers milk tea just a tea with Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle? I am taking both in capsule form. When you say "while nursing" do you mean as you are nursing you drink the tea at the same time?

Cjr, this is kind of OT but just another thought on helping to bring your milk in. Have you tried nursing someone else's baby? They'll draw out the milk better than a pump. You could pump all the milk you could get first and then bf the other baby. Something to consider. Maybe you could look for Mamas who'd be willing to let you nurse their baby in FYT for where you live. LLL might be another good place. Just a thought.

I never thought about that. I am trying to find a LLL in my area, but I can't find it when I search on Google. I know they are here. I'm hoping they have a meeting soon and that I have'nt missed it.

You know, if you can't stomach the brewer's yeast, I would bag on it. You can get multi-B vitamins in a just-one-pill form, and you can get inositol from www.bronsonvitamins.com if you can't find it at your HFS.

You are going through enough, you don't need to torture yourself with a nasty-tasting substance!

Do you have to drink it? I have no idea if cooking affects the benefit but.... We mix brewers yeast with soy sauce and a touch of toasted sesame seeds to make a thin paste then spread it over sliced tofu and bake at 375 for 10-20 min for really yummy tofu steaks (seriously it sounds weird buts its very good even my meat and potatos dh likes them). Also good on salads. Good luck!

I really had to make myself eat the BY, too. I just ate it plain and dry -- which I don't recommend, because it got stuck to the roof of my mouth, worse than really dry peanut butter. If I had to do it again, I think I would try mixing it with a small amount of oatmeal. I dislike it so much that I would never mix into a whole bowl of oatmeal (or of anything else) because then I'd have to experience it with every miserable bite. Instead, I would just get into into a consistency that I could eat as quickly as possible, and then move on to more pleasant things.

I think it's the smell more than anything else. I really don't mind it mixed with a glass of double strength Tang, as long as I plug my nose.

The smell from those rags really were awful and I walked around the house all day looking for a dirty dipe (dh likes to leave them laying around wherever he happens to change ds
). My laundry room is on the main floor of our house and the diaper pail is in there, but for the life of me I could'nt find that dirty dipe. When I started organizing some laundry I came accross the rag and I thought I was gonna DIE.
