I want dh to pick up a Britax Marathon to replace our Cosco Alpha Omega carseat this week-end. I want Simon to be rear-facing as long as possible and we aren't really happy with the Alpha Omega seat, and he seems to be too tall for it already though he is 27 pounds and it is rated up to 35 rear-facing (I didn't realize that a 35 pound child would have to be a short 35 pounder to still be within the height limit (36 inches), or maybe Simon just has a really long torso. Anyway... I'm expecting the Marathon to be bigger than the Alpha Omega. Anyone know if it will fit in a 4 door Cavalier (a newish LS, if that matters). I'm hoping that the moo print is available.

I have a Britax Marathon for my dd and I love it. It is large and takes up a bit of room but nothing that can't be worked with. I have a Ford Focus and it fits fine but my dd is also facing front. We have basic blue but the moo print is so fun!

What about a Ford Escort sedan? We got ours, and it's bigger than I expected it to be. I'm worried about how it'll fit in our car. (we don't have time to put it in til Monday)

We've got two Marathons in a Dodge Neon, but only one is rearfacing. I may be a tight squeeze, but it's probably do-able. In our Neon, only the front seat passenger is squeezed in.

I'd say, take the car and fit it before buying it. BRU carries Britax, I think. Even if you don't buy from there, you could go and fit one and see if it works.

We had one rear facing in a saturn ion which is really close in size to a cavalier. Remember after about 5-6 months of age the seat doesn't need to be reclined at the full 45 degree angle. It can go up as much as 30 degrees. I had ours so that the seat back of the marathon rested on the back of the front passenger seat. I got a really good, tight install. It's so easy! Remember with the britax seats that you can tether them rear facing. I think you'll definately get more growing room out of the marathon. The harness slots are much higher and the seat is pretty tall. You can always take your car to Babies R Us and ask to try the seat in your car. They'll usually just hold your drivers license or a credit card while you are out there.

My husband and I are pretty tall and it worked just fine in our small car. We had the cow print too and just loved it.

Yep. They do. Our Target also carries the Marathon and Roundabout. Good idea to fit it before buying.

Thanks everyone! As far as I can tell, BRS in Canada doesn't sell the Britax seats for some reason. Dh is planning to pick it up tomorrow. Hopefully they'll let him try it out, though it sounds like we have nothing to worry about. I sit in back with Simon and often nurse him (not the greatest thing to do, I do manage to keep the seatbelt on me at least). Hopefully that won't be any more uncomfortable with this seat. I'm at long last going to try driving with just myself and him soon, so maybe that won't be such an issue for long if it is even more awkward to do with a bigger carseat.

I'll post an update after we get it.
