DD just got her first tooth- it is not even completely up yet. I always told myself I would be adamant about brushing it, but she makes it so hard! I have guaze and some baby Spry gel, but I feel like swiping it over once is not really going to do anything. What else can I do?

we tried just giving our ds the toothbrush to chew on. also! if you can manage it, i found that dental stuff done while sleeping at that age is the way to go.

i have found that neither of my 2 kids liked brushing teeth at first. i was/am also adamant about brushing and developing good teeth habits. but no matter what i tried...different toothbrushes, cloths, singing, talking to them, even toothpaste on the brush, until they got used to the process, they fought it. my 3 yo is fine with brushing teeth and 18 mo is mostly fine with it, although he will tell me when we're done <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">. i usually talk to them about what we're going to do today or what we did today and that keeps them still and listening. good luck!
