Ok, I got all excited about this washing method for clothes. I have a frontload washer, and it has a spot for powder soap and liquid soap. So, I put vinegar in one spot, and BS in the other. My clothes did not smell fresh. Can someone help me here? I'm trying to switch out from commercial products (little by little), and want to be successful in the process!

I just tried this for the first time tonight. I was pretty excited to try this after reading the (long) "BS really works" thread.

I have an LG front loader. I put 2/3 cup Baking Soda in the soap dispenser part, and a few glugs of vinegar and about 10 drops of Lavendar EO in the fabric softener part.

I think it did a great job cleaning and the laundry smells fantastic!

HTH!

Well I think a lot depends on your water. I used to wash our dipes in front loader in Florida with just BS and a few drops of TTO. Moved to NY, and that made them STINK. It was awful. Here, even using soap made them stinky, the only thing that worked was bleach once a week. Problems I never had where we used to live. I have a feeling water pH and make-up have a lot to do with what does and doesn't work. Perhaps if you skip the vinegar you will have better results. I used to use around 1/2 to 1 cup of just baking soda.
