Not sure if this is the right place for this but i'm sure if its not someone will move it. 2 nights ago my dd was bit in the back by some kind of bug, it was semi dark and when i saw it i thought it was a fuzzy so i got it and it "skwooshed" in my fingers, (eeewww) but anyhow she now has a mosquito looking bite there but it has gotten bigger, about the size of a dime, she's had a fever for 2 days and we just thought today that it could be related to the bug bite, what do you think? WWYD? I don't wanna take her to the dr and get her pumped full of antiobiotics if i don't hafto but if i hafta do it i will

It could be a spider bite...you could google some pics and see if you find anything that looks similar to what she's got. Since it's growing, though, I'd probably take her in, esp. if you think the fever's related. Sorry I'm not much help!

My DD (almost 2) had an oblong mark on her bottom that was the size of my thumb that "appeared" overnight. It had a white spot in the middle like a whitehead. It was very warm to touch. I took her in for a cough and showed it to the Dr. thinking it was no big deal and the Dr. was VERY concerned. Squeezed the whitehead and told me it was bite and that it needed to stay open to drain. She said it was infected and that I needed to have her take 2 warm baths a day and of course gave me an antibiotic.

Later, I read an article in the paper about a new type of staph infection running wild in our area and the symptoms were very similar to what DD had.

Hmmmm... I wonder IF that was the reason the Dr. was SO concerned??

Anyways, she's fine now, but I'm really bad, I don't give the full 10 days of meds if I can help it. I figure the less the better for when she REALLY needs it.

dd's fever only lasted for 2 days, she's totally fine now, guess i'll never know what caused it, she does still have the bite on her back but it has gotten better, yay!
