Hi everyone,

I wonder how you get a stash of milk frozen if you are EBFing and you are always feeding your babe?

My babe is 4 mo old and I am at home for the year with him. He eats about every 3 hours during the day and I feel like he needs both boobs in order to get what is likely about 5 oz in total.

How does one build a stash without it interfering with their feedings? I seriously feel like there is never a time that I can pump, bc he needs the milk for his next feeding...And I feel like I making just enuf milk to give hm for each feeding...

This means it's a bit hard to go out and do anything if there is no milk for DH to give him...

How do you all do this?

I'm at a loss!! Any Advice is welcome.

Thx,
R

Try pumping after you feed him. Or, if the baby is not too distracted, feed on one breast while pumping the other.

If you are worried about supply issues, I have noticed that an increase in calories has helped my supply, specifically calories from protein. I eat more meat now than I used to. I also eat oatmeal and drink Mother's Milk tea 2-3 times a day.

Even if you can only pump an ounce or two at a time, before you know it, you will have enough saved up. It just takes a while.

Good luck!

I am wondering the same thing. I like for DH to be able to give the babe a bottle of pumped milk. DH loves feeding him and I want him to be part of it. I struggle to get 90 ml, I literally squeeze the milk out like a lemon!

I have just enough too. Does your babe sleep for an extended period at night? My DD sleeps for 6 hours at a stretch when we first put her down. I set my alarm halfway through that and get up and pump. Or when she first wakes up after going that long I feed her on one side and pump the other, that way I know she's getting enough.

I always pumped about an hour to two hours after dd went to bed for the night. Your supply will gradually increase for the time of day that you pump if you are consistent. I always wanted a decent supply so that if something happened to me, daddy could feed her.

Just start pumping and your supply will adjust. It doesn't seem like it will but it does.

For instance, pump for 10 minutes an hour after LO nurses every day for a week once in the morning (when you make more work). It works well to time it after you take a morning shower because

I just started pumping after her morning feeding. She usually takes both boobs, and then falls back asleep for a bit. Right after I set her down, I pump and can get 3 oz. I figure if I am able to do this for 3-4 days, I'll have enough for one work day away from her. During that day away, I'll pump 3 times and get the milk she needs for the next day. Make sense?

If you aren't going to use it right away, take what you get and freeze it. It'll add up quickly.
