Bumgenius overnight

I have been adding 2 Cotton Babies inserts into the Bumgenius for overnight. It is very bulky and I have had some leaks. Last night I tried 1 Cotton Babies insert and 1 Hemp Babies Diaper Doubler without a leak. I was wondering if I could just add 2 Hemp Babies Diaper Doublers and no Cotton Babies insert? The Hemp Babies Diaper Doubler are so thin. Or does it have to have the Cotton Babies inserts to work right?

I'm no expert... but we use 1 Cotton Babies insert and 1 hemp insert at night. The hemp is slim and holds a lot, but the CB insert absorbs more quickly IMHO. It seems to work best for us to have a CB insert on the side next to the baby so that nighttime pee gets sucked up right away.
We're trying ours tonight last night he slept in a crickett.

I use the cotton babies insert it came with, and then i also put a doubler but not inside the pocket of it and that seems to work pretty good.

So the cotton babies insert can't go against the babies skin but the hemp insert can? I guess I am confused as to what can and can't go against skin.

When we use a BG at night I use 2 hemp inserts and 2 micro doublers. My little guy is a super soaker and with only 2 inserts of any kind he would wick out at the tabs.. The hemp alone does not pull moister in fast enough for us. The one size CB inserts are too buly but the doublers are just the right amount of micro to pull moister into the hemp quickly

yea i have it go against the skin, that could be totally wrong and not suppose to happen like that but for us it works.

I've only been a full time cd'er for two days hehe.

I don't think it matters what you put against the skin unless your child is prone to rashes. For us, I put the CB insert closest to the skin in the pocket and then a Hemparoo under that. It works for about half the night for my daughter who wets through everything. For it to work overnight, I need 2 hemparoos in there.
I've been having leaking issues with my BG since I got it. Last night I tried two cotton babies inserts and it still leaked out the strectchy tab on the side dd sleeps on. The weird thing was although the top insert was soaked, the bottom one definitely could have held more pee. Any advice for me ladies? I don't have any hemp but I'mthinking about ordering some.
DS leaked through the tab again last night. I will have to add more to the pocket tonight. He nurses throughout the night so I think it is the side laying.

We use our bG at night, stuffed with two JoeyBunz. If he wakes up to eat, we have to change him or he'll leak by the morning, but that's more because he pees like crazy than because of the inserts.

We don't use the CottonBabies insert at all at night, as it doesn't hold anywhere near as much as the JoeyBunz. I've read that microfiber (as in the CB inserts) is too drying to go directly against the baby's skin, and can cause rashes for many babies. Plus the microsuede liner is what keeps the baby feeling dry, so I like to put all the absorbent material under the microsuede, in the pocket.
one hemp babies is roughly equivalent to two cotton babies microfibre
