BumGenius have this awesome, super stretchy leg and back elastic that won't let explosive BF poo escape - the only problem is that my washer leaves a little bit of poo residue in the gathers - ICKKK!!! After removing two "washed" dipers from the washer, I had to attack them by hand with detergenty water and an old toothbrush, sprayed them with BacOut, and I soooooo hope the next wash removes the poo. I never had this problem with my fitteds. How do you get poo out of the gathered elastic? Do you stretch it and minishower before washing? Or am I the only one who has this problem? Maybe a front-loader issue?

Hm...I don't have any Bum Genius (yet
) but I did have that happen to the elastic parts of some covers during the EBF phase. Instead of using the fold back laundry tabs I fastened the aplix and washed the cover inside out and it worked for me. I have no idea how the BG elastic is sewn or if its similar to what happened to us, so I don't know if that will help.

I used the stretch and minishower technique w/similar elastic bunching issues when my babies were in the bf explosion stage (didn't have BumGenius then, but same problems w/similar elastic legs). Also did the wash them inside out idea, too. Both worked. Now that ds is eating solids, the poo still collects in the BumGenius and Bumkins covers elastic, and I just minishower it out.
