Hey there, I'm in the proccess of picking out the diapers I want (and telling my parents, as they've basicly told me that between the two of them they'll get me as many as I'll need, which is pretty awesome of them!!), and am kind of stuck on two: BumGenius One-Size 2.0's and Wonderoos. I'm leaning more towards BumGenius now than wonderoos, because of the velcro and stretch tabs... Anyhow, does anyone have experience with either of these diapers? Both maybe?? If so, what do you think of them/recommend?

Lots of thanks in advance!!

I haven't used BG so I can't compare. Wonderoo do not go down very small at all, they won't fit until your child is in the larger end of smalls. The rise is commonly outgrown before potty learning too. They do work well for a child in an average medium or large size.

IMO, BumGenius are far superior. If you would like to compare BG! to something else that is similar, check out the Haute Pocket. That would make a much better comparison (though I still think I'd pick the BG!).

The thing about BGs that concerns us, is the velcro - it eventually wearing out, getting icky, etc... Have you seen any problems along these lines??

thanks again!!

I used Wonderoo's from about 6 months right around a year old. At that point DD started leaking out the sides. I haven't used them with DS since I decided I don't like pocket diapers, (my only experience being Wonderoo's) and prefer fitteds and wool.

I used the wonderoos from 9 months to 2+yrs with ds. I have a new baby now (9lbs) and it wouldn't work on him wayyy to big. I use the bg's 1.0's with no problems (although they are slightly bulkier than pockets meant for his size).
DS didn't outgrow the Wonderoos before PTing and I actually really like them, but they wouldn't fit on a newborn, too big!

I have both. The Wonderoos I used from the beginning, DD was 10 lbs 11 oz at birth. They were on the bulky side at the start. I've recently started using the BG! 2.0, and I like them a lot for DD who is now 2 and weighs 28 lbs. They fit much better in the rise and are not as wide betwen the legs. In a few weeks I'll see how well they work for a new baby.

I find that I by far prefer the aplix over the snaps, and I adore the stretchy tabs.

My Wonderoos still look brand new after 2 years, and the BG's seem to be holding up quite nicely so far. I've heard that if you avoid washing the BG with natural fibers like cotton, your velcro and tabs will hold up better. The lint given off by those fabrics contributes to pilling on the tabs and "stuff" getting stuck in the velcro.

If I had to pick one, my choice would be the BG! 2.0

I have used wonderoos on a 6 month to 18 month boy and now I"m using some on my dd who is just about 2 (but only 20 lbs) they work they aren't my favorite and I agree the fit wouldn't be so great on a newborn, but then again in my experience I don't think one size diapers fit well until 10lbs anyway

I have 2 bumgenius 1.0 and I really like them the fit is nicer they are a lot easier to stuff. I like the stretchy tabs and I"ve had them for a year and I wash on hot and dry them in the dryer, and I wash with cotton diapers and the velcro is fine I think I would like the 2.0 even better because of the pul being a lot stronger than the older style with nylon

I still am really skeptical that the bumgenius are going to fit my 6lb newborn but I'm going to try it out

Between the two I would pick bumgenius 2.0

Bumgenius. I used them when my son was about 10 lbs. I would get a small insert to use with them though. The cotton babies insert would be too big to use on a small baby. You can use the extra inserts later to double up for extra absorbancy. We used Hemp Babies Little Weeds in them.

I think that the Bumgenius would have better resale value too, since they are very popular. That way if they didn't work out for you, you could sell them and buy something that did.

Wonderoos are no longer being made in the US, but the snap closing Haute Pockets would be the closest thing to them. They are a little more narrow throught the crotch and the rise is a little longer than Wonderoos. I prefer snaps over velcro so I prefer the snap Haute Pockets over BG 2.0, but they are both very good diapers.

Hey everybody, lots of thanks for your input... I think I'm going to go with the bumGenius, along with some Hemp Babies Little Weeds inserts, thanks soo much again!
