OK - this is going to date me in terms of how long I've been CDing. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1"><br><br>
I have, and love, the old Bummi covers. The ones with the thin very flexible shell, the mesh inner, and the large amount of soft aplix on the front so the tabs could really "personalize" where they landed. I bought these when Ina was a baby (nearly 4 years ago) - I've got all I'd need for a newborn, but less for the medium and large sizes (we were "ordering as she grows" and they changed on us to the whisper wrap version described next).<br><br>
I also have, more recently purchased, the "new and improved" whisper wrap Bummis. These, I do not like so much. They are stiff; they seem to gap more to me; they seem bulkier all 'round.<br><br>
Does anyone know what the history is, why they switched to the new version? I just found an online store which sells the older version (yay!) and think I might order some more of them, but am wondering what people know about why they switched as they seem to have done?

I haven't used the originals, but my understanding is that the whisper wraps can stand up to tougher laundering and are roomy enough to be used with fitted diapers as well as with prefolds.

I think you can still buy them some places, so maybe search around a bit. I like the super whisper wraps because they are practically indestructable, Mine have been through 5 kids and are just starting to get a bit worn-looking, but still function great. So I think durability has a lot to do with it.

I know with the older version, the print ones wicked horribly, not sure about the white ones. I think I have a couple of large ones in the old version - they are brand new because my girls never get into larges

Yep! I love my Bummis Originals, too. They are PERFECT and trim over pinned flats.<br><br>
I am betting the reason Bummis came out with the SWW is that they can be laundered with diapers and stand up to more abuse. Since the Originals are nylon, they require a little more gentle care. Green Mountain diapers is a great place to get the Originals.

I think Cotton Babies has the originals, too. I know I've seen them somewhere other than Green Mountain. Prices are probably pretty similar, though.<br><br>
