dd has about 4 spots on her bum that look burnt, I think because she's been having so many stools lately. Anyway - I know Mylanta is good for that, but all I have is cherry flavored! Think that will make a difference?

Anything else I could try that I might have laying around the house? It's after 10pm here and dh isn't home, and I'm not waking my other 2 dc for a trip to an all-night drug store......

She doesn't seem to be in any pain, and no, I don't have an aloe plant.
I put the chrerry mylanta on her....we'll see what happens. I keep seeing a recipe for benedryl and mylanta mixed together, but I'll have to check upstairs to see if I have any benedryl...I doubt it.

Oh the flavor doesn't matter.I always use maalox and aquaphor.I compound it 50/50 (takes alot of working it with a fork) but it makes a nice cream.Ours is berry flavored.Needless to say my 18 month old thought it tasted pretty good
I guess i shouldn't have put it in a snack bowl

breastmilk is always my first call, then i would try aloe if available, calendula next, then either egg white or honey but with caution because egg can be an allergen, and honey isn't recommended for under one year olds because of the risk of botulism. sorry, on reflection that's not a lot of help is it!

Thanks for all your suggestions! She's sleeping now with the mylanta on her, and when she wkes up to nurse I'll sqairt some breastmilk on. If it doesn't seem better by morning, I may stop & get some pinxav. I don't like to use commercial products, but that one is pretty awesome, imo.

I hope your DD is feeling better? And I agree that breastmilk is a good one. May I ask what kind of detergent you are using on your diapers? I know I've read recently about one brand at least causing a rash that looks like burns.

Actually - she's been in sposies for about 6 weeks....
: I've been overwhelmed with stuff lately, and put cloth-diaper-washing on the back burner. And I've been using different brands, so it's not the diapers.

But - after almost 24 hours of mylanta-butt, her bottom is much better! yea!

My DD had the same problem and it was due to the amount of fruit that she was eating and her number of stools. She had diarreaha really bad several times a day. I know it was the stomach acids that did it to her bum. I use Burts bees rescue ointment and it is healing up well. I also cut off her fresh fruit and only gave her bananas for a few days and lots of yogurt at meal time. I also have a natural diaper ointment that I put on for overnight.
