With DD I never experienced this "burst of energy" thing before birth. I just wanted to take it easy towards the end. Today I am 38 weeks and 6 days with DS and I realized today was my "burst of energy" day! I cleaned the house (weird because my cleaning lady is coming this Saturday!), cleaned the minivan inside and out, washed DD's carseat, washed sheets off all the beds in the house, etc. I feel pretty tired out now and find bloody show. So could it be baby time soon?

Over the weekend I vacuumed, mopped, changed all the sheets, did all the laundry, tidied, cleaned the bathroom, did my taxes...oh yeah and I also did a bunch of cooking. I definitely felt like I was nesting but she's still not here. *sigh*. This week I am trying to do the equivalent at work so I can "relax" and be ready when she does come...is anyone else having to work right up till there due date? Fortunately I work out of my house but now that I am 38 weeks plus I realize that if my co. had a better maternity policy, I'd be off by now....

I'd say the bloody show is more telling. Although staying active can be good to get things going. KUP!

I'm working until baby is actually born. I only get two months (as an ex-pat Canadian, this makes me cry!), and I'd rather have all of the time after baby arrives. My daughter was 10 days late, and my water actually broke at work. I'm hoping that doesn't happen this time and that I go into labor before my water breaks, but I'm fully intending to squeeze as much of my paltry time as possible into the post-baby period even if it means laboring at the office (in the early stages anyway).

I know the mat leave thing stinks...I am actually eligible for nothing even though I have worked for this co. for about 8 years, because I was laid off and subsequently hired back due to the financial crisis & recovery, it erased my "rights" to six weeks. Lucky for me I have great supportive bosses (even if the co. is not) and I have figured out how to take some add'l (unpaid) time....

I'm working right up to birth. My other 2 kids have both been "late", so I've always worked past my due date (much to the chagrin of a few of my co-workers). I'm not even feeling like I'm close to delivery, so it's no problem at all. My maternity leave is post-baby anyway, but I want to save as much PTO as possible for the rest of the year.

I would say the bloody show is a good sign, but the but the burst of energy maybe not. I've had 2 days of crazy (for me ) energy where I cleaned everything, scrubbed floors, ect. The last one was a week ago and nothing yet!

No baby yet! Went to the mall w DD and walked for 3 hours and still no baby- arg...

With DD's pregnancy, I worked until 4 days before my due date (1 week before birth cuz she was 3 days late), which I thought was OK. I'm staying home this pregnancy and sometimes I feel like I was better able to take it easy while I was working than staying home with a toddler!
