There was another thread asking for more info so I thought I would post an "official" info thread for this movie screening/birth fair for more exposure. Please pass this on to all your groups!

birthNetwork is looking for volunteers to greet people at the front, seat people for the movie, etc. If you are interested please contact the email below. birthNetwork is a not-for-profit organization but does take donations at the same email.

Macomb birthNetwork National Presents…

A Mini birth fair along with a pre-release private screening of The Business of Being Born, a must see film documentary for anyone who is having a baby or even considering having a baby. Actress Ricki Lake teams up with film maker Abby Epstein to unravel the “inconvenient truth” about choices in childbirth. After she experienced unwanted medical interventions while delivering her first child in the hospital, Ricki succeeded in giving birth on her own terms and the experience was so unexpectedly empowering and life-changing that she felt every woman should know what they could be missing out on.

The film gains inside access to several New York City mothers-to-be. It presents real-life footage of birth and delves into the challenges that pregnant woman face during their decisions between technology and nature. Shocking facts to men and woman alike regarding the historical and current practices of the child birthing industry interweave with stories of couples who decide to give birth on their own terms.

Following the film, which has running time of 87 minutes, there will be a talk-back session with local birth professionals. Come browse the fair with vendors who will provide birth-related information and handouts.

Don’t miss this event at the
