My 4.5 month old has this recurring zit right next to his anus. It gets big and gooey (sorry I know that is gross) and then pops only to refill a couple days or weeks later. It is in such a bad spot right on the edge of his anus where it stays really moist an obviously in contact with his poop. I have tried putting peroxide on it or tea tree oil at diaper changes but it doesn't seem to help. I am wondering if anyone has had this issue and has any suggestios. Should I be worried about staph or something. I didn't bring it up at the last Doc appt. because it was gone for a month. Now it is back. I will definately bring it up next time, but that is a month away and I hate to make a special trip if I don't have to as it is 45 minutes away. Thanks!!!!

i would go to the doc. it could def be staph.. and if it has been around/recurring for awhile it could be something serious if left untreated.<br><br>

Definitely get it swabbed for staph. I had a recurring staph infection for a very long time (much worse than this - up to 25 boils at a time for over 6 months, though I'm an adult, not a baby!) I finally got rid of it with a serious antibiotic cocktail, but it has recurred a couple of times since and I've had great success with garlic (concentrated in pill form) and Vit. D and burdock root. This is what started me seeing a naturopath regularly as a primary care provider. I don't know what would be safe for a little one, but I'd look into some natural solutions if possible. I think antibiotics for infections like this can start a nasty cycle, though sometimes they are necessary <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1"><br>
Hope it clears up quick, that can't be easy on either of you!

How did you get this abx coctail? What is the homeopathic remedies? Both of my kids have MRSA and get multiple boils at a time. They have not cleared with the abx they've gotten so far.

Took him to the doc and of course it was popped and didn't look like much. The doctor thinks it is a subaceous cyst. What is a Sacral Dimple?
