My daughters car seat is about to reach the 6 year old mark, i'm looking at car seats for her now... wanted to see some suggestions. She is almost 2 years old, weight is 24lbs and hight is about 34inches i think. She is rear facing most of the time unless it's a very long car trip and she wants to watch a movie with her sister... she's usally content just listening to it though. I was looking at britax marathon since she could use if for a long while till 65lbs ... but it's awful pricey??? Suggestions...

We have the...

Cosco Alpha Omega Elite Convertible 3-in-1 carseat

adn we love it! We bought it at Target and it costs at least $100 less than the one you are looking at. Plus it goes up to 100lbs. There are some great reviews at Target's website too. Our little guy grew out of the infant seat at 6 months and we just got to switch it to forward facing at 1 year. I am glad that we purchased this particular carseat.

I think that seat required a head rest when FF right? if so i would have to move her out of the middle bench row and on to a door side... not sure i'm wanting to do that with her... i like her in the middle seems much safer in a side inpac crash

The marathon is totally worth it! You have a few years of use (plus any future kids) and if you divide the cost by the length of use, it comes out to pennies a day for safety and a great seat that's easy to install and use properly.

I won't be the only one to say this, but I hate my Alpha Omega and you can't go wrong w/ Britax. You get 25# more use out of the harness, plus a higher back and strap slots which will make it last longer. I would look into the Britax Boulevard though b/c of the side impact protection, though the MAs have cuter patterns! lol I just love the new Brooke pattern! If $ is really a problem, there are a few other less expensive options like the Sunshine Kids Radian and the Fisher Price Safe Voyage.

The AO doesn't need a headrest to use, that's the Apex, but it doesn't go rfing which the longer they stay that way, the safer they are.

I'm also looking to get dd 4 y/o a new car seat as well she's to tall for her convertiable seat the expires the same as 2 y/o i do have a high back booster from ds 6y/o but dd4 only weights 34lbs so she still needs a harness and the regent seems like a nice one as well... maybe i'll splug and buy both... oh my penies will be counted this month! LOL

The Alpha Omega only harnesses to 40lbs; after that you must use it as a booster.

Go for the Britax, it's worth it. We LOVE our Marathon and Decathlon. The nice thing about the Decathlon is the extra crotch strap setting when they get bigger. Or, if you are ready for her to ff, get the Regent. It's HUGE, but it costs about the same as the Marathon and lasts til 80lbs harnessed...you'll probably never even need a booster.
