hey all of you that have been through this ...
i really dont know where to start with seeking c/s. i'm pretty sure that i can't do a whole lot right now cuz my son hasn't even been born yet, but is there something that i can do to at least get my bearings and get something started? i've looked on the state of nebraska website under hhs and i can see some info on who maybe i need to contact when the time arises ... is it too early to make an appt with someone to maybe get some facts straight on what needs to be done after the baby is born? quite possibly a redundant question cuz that's what i've been meaning to do, but...
by the way, i've had absolutely no contact with the sperm donor since he left here beginning of april after only being here for all of 3wks trying to work something out between us.
: i believe he went back home to alabama but he wont return email. also should mention that at least i have his ssn and dr lic info .... so he shouldn't be hard to track down at least.
i'm assuming i quite possibly have a difficult paperwork filled battle ahead of me, am i correct?

I went through the department of revenue in my state. It took approx. 6-8 months (
: ) for the whole process, but I didn't have to pay any fees for court or dna, and the dor takes the c/s directly from x's paycheck, so I don't have to worry if it is going to be on time. The dor will request arrears from the time the chld was born.

I am not sure howmuch you can do at this point other than ask around.

Good luck! And have a happy pregnancy!!

You can go in and get the paperwork started and have them start tracking him down, which can take awhile. It's good you have his SSN. But... seeing as how the child isn't born yet and you have no contact, how are you going to prove he is the father? Usually the state will go by if the dad signed the birth certificate or in my case the dad filled out a recognition of parentage form. I'm not sure what happens if the dad isn't around at all when the baby is born. I highly recommend you get into your county's child support office asap to find out what you will need to do.

To find you child support office just look up your county offices and then call the public health number, they'll get you to where you need to go.

a cooworker that dealt with a similar situation years ago told me that in this state its best to not put him on the b-cert if i dont want him to have parental rights but still be responsible for c/s. said that he then has 7days after birth to step forward if he wants parental rights ... then to go through the process of dna testing and such to prove he's the father and therefore responsible for c/s. i hope this all doesnt take years ... pretty sure he went back to his parents town and i do have their contact info too ...
