What are the chances of getting a horizontal internal cut when the skin is cut vertically for a c-section?

Logically, to me, it makes no sense to do both unless it was extremely necessary.

It does happen. It seems to be common in women who have had prior cesareans in Mexico, I have never heard a great explanation for it- I have been told that the vertical skin incision provides better visibility for the surgeon.
